Busan Rotary Club successfully held its 90th anniversary ceremony.

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the 90th anniversary ceremony was held on the Panstar Miracle ship.
At the 90th anniversary ceremony, attended by approximately 200 people including former RI President Yangchon Lee Dong-geon, President Song Won-woo of Deungbul, and other distinguished guests, members, and their families, we watched a video recording the club's 90-year history on screen.

He promised to work hard and move forward toward the 100th anniversary, surpassing the 90th anniversary.
Past RI President Yangchon Lee Dong-geon, who is always known as the first Korean president of Rotary International and who attended with a special connection to Busan RC and District 3661, said in his congratulatory address that the history and tradition of Busan RC are a source of great pride for all Rotarians.
He offered words of congratulations and encouragement to the club members, saying he would give them a hug. He also shared an anecdote about his father, Governor Lee Won-gap, a Rotarian from Busan who served as governor of District 366, the predecessor to District 3661.
In his congratulatory address, President Song Won-woo of the Lantern Foundation said that the 90-year history is not just about numbers, but the passion and dedication of countless people.
And he celebrated the 90th anniversary, emphasizing that it was a time filled with the spirit of service.
Presidents and members from sister clubs Jeju RC, Honolulu RC, Fukuoka RC, and Shimonoseki RC attended.
These clubs are playing the role of mother clubs in each district together with Busan RC, and through this commemorative ceremony

Professor Joo is the author of the book "Castaways" and crossed the Military Demarcation Line to become a professor of unification studies.
This club is dedicated to understanding unification and North Korean defectors, empathizing with their economic and emotional pain, and providing continuous support.

After the Korean War, from 1956 to 1961, I attended Gyeongnam Girls' Middle School and High School for 6 years.
I completed my studies with the Busan RC Scholarship and achieved my dream of becoming a teacher.
This is teacher Choi Kyung-sook, who has dedicated her life to teaching. She will never forget the gratitude she felt at that time and attended the 82nd anniversary event.
She is the protagonist of a wonderful story, who attended with her husband and donated 30 million won in scholarship funds to the club.
So Bo-gwang, a second-year student at Pusan National University who played the violin on stage at the 90th anniversary celebration performance, is also a scholarship recipient from Busan RC.
In addition to the 30 million won donated by Professor Choi Kyung-sook, the club also added 10 million won, totaling 40 million won to the Busan-Jeju District Scholarship Foundation.
It was donated as a scholarship, and a virtuous cycle is being created in which scholarship students are supported.
