Greetings

Inaugural address

Hello.
I am Andrew Seo Dong-kyun, the 75th and 76th President of the Busan Rotary Club, who has been re-elected.
President Insan and distinguished guests,
And thank you for joining us today for this meaningful and historic occasion.
I sincerely thank everyone.
As you are well aware, the Busan Rotary Club is a club with a long history of service spanning 91 years, boasting the best tradition in the south of Seoul and being the second oldest Rotary Club in South Korea.
As Sister Park Bulkeria, Head Sister of the Sisters of Aloysius Maria and a living witness to Busan Rotary service, will also speak to us today,
Busan Rotary has been silently dedicating itself to neighbors in need since a time when even the concept of service had not yet taken root.
In the days when the country was weak and many people were suffering,
'Adults' from various fields gathered under the spirit of noblesse oblige
The Busan Rotary Club was the very place that put service into action to create a "world where we live together" rather than a "world where only I prosper."
We, their juniors, have inherited their spirit and are continuing to serve with our utmost dedication. However, the scale of service, passion, and devotion demonstrated by our predecessors at that time were so great that it is difficult for us today to even dare to compare them.
Just as there are times of prosperity and times of hardship in everything,
Busan Rotary has also gone through a difficult time for a while.
However, I would like to say this with pride today.
The current Busan Rotary is successfully concluding the glorious first 100-year history written by our predecessors, while simultaneously preparing for the upcoming second act, 'our' new 100-year history.
Rotary Busan, which took its first steps on May 15, 1935, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2035, nine years from now.
In addition, for the years 2029-30, the former president of this club and the Fanstar Group
Chairman Haejeong Kim Hyun-kyum plans to run for District 3661 Governor.
In addition, he was a major pillar of this club and the 55th President and
Former President Seo Jeong-ui, the 44th President of District 3661, last autumn
Although he has left us, his eldest son, Seo Min-jae, CEO of Hwashin Shipping & Aviation Group, has joined us and filled the great void left by the President.
In addition to Representative Seo Min-jae, outstanding leaders of the local community, including Attorney Shin Jeong-mu of Kukje Law Firm and Representative Kim Cheol-woong of Choa Mutual Aid, have newly joined this proud journey of service.
On the contrary, so that points meet and the past and future are connected.
There are also people who quietly stepped aside.
It is said that change begins with people. That change is starting quietly and surely.
Dear members and executive committee chairpersons,
And thanks to the generous cooperation of past presidents, even the club's finances
We are recovering a stable foundation and continuing positive changes.
Dear Rotarians of Busan,
Thank you for being so patient and waiting for such a long time.
The calmness eventually comes to an end,
It was said that the flow changes suddenly.
The flow has changed.
For the remaining 9 years, the things my seniors have left behind
Beautifully completing the epic of glory,
Let's write a new 100-year history of 'ours' together.
More than 100 members, club's own service fund of more than 1 billion won.
It's possible.
2026-2027,
Please join me in connecting the present and future of Busan Rotary.
Thank you

Congratulatory speech

Distinguished members of the Busan Rotary Club,
And distinguished guests, both domestic and foreign, who have joined us for this meaningful occasion today!
Hello.
I am Young-tae Park, Governor of Rotary International District 3661 for the 2026-27 year.
First, I pay my deepest respects to President Andrew Seo Dong-kyun for his dedication over the past year, during which he elevated the honor of the Busan Rotary Club, the pride of Rotary in Korea. Furthermore, I sincerely congratulate President Andrew Seo Dong-kyun on his reappointment as the 76th President of the Busan Rotary Club and send my full support and high expectations for his passion as he strives for a new leap forward.
Since its founding in 1935, the Busan Rotary Club has been at the center of history, writing the developmental history of Rotary in Korea for 91 years. From the turbulent period before and after liberation to the present day, the values of service, friendship, and leadership upheld by Busan Rotary prove its dignity as a prestigious club representing the Republic of Korea. Your dedication in spreading the seeds of Rotary across the nation by supporting the birth of numerous junior clubs in South Busan, East Busan, Ulsan, Jinju, and elsewhere is the greatest pride of District 3661.
The presence of senior members like Jayun Kim Dong-hwan, Jungsu Shin Han-chun, Haejeong Kim Hyun-gyeom, and Hyomin Kim Jeong-mun, who have preserved the history of the club with their whole being, is the living history and most precious treasure of the Busan Rotary Club. I extend my deepest respect to all senior Rotarians who have built the Busan Rotary of today by inheriting the spirit of the founding members.
The Rotary International theme for 2026-27 is "Create Lasting Impact."
Volunteering is not merely about achieving current results, but about creating positive change that leaves a lasting legacy for future generations and the local community.
I ask President Andrew Seo Dong-kyun, who has once again taken the helm of Busan Rotary following the previous term, to open a new future for the club by vigorously promoting member unity, growth, and sustainable service activities based on the dignified leadership our club possesses.
In addition, I would like to extend a sincere welcome to all the new members who have joined today.
You have not simply become members of a club, but
I have become a member of the Busan Rotary Club family, continuing a page of Rotary history in Korea.
Inheriting the proud traditions and honor built by our predecessors,
I hope you grow into an outstanding Rotarian who practices service above self and spreads positive influence to the local and international communities.
Dear members,
There are many clubs with a long history, but clubs that stay ahead of their time and create new values are rare. I hope that the Busan Rotary Club will continue to lead Rotary in Korea just as it did in 1991, and drive the development of District 3661 through dignified leadership and service in action.
Just like our District 3661 slogan, "Positive Influence with the District – Impact Together, 3661 Rotarian," I sincerely hope that the Busan Rotary Club will continue to write an even more brilliant history as the pride of Rotary in Korea.
I wish health and happiness to the families of everyone present today, and I pray for the boundless development of the Busan Rotary Club and the continued success of all its members. Thank you.
